Walk for Life Arboleas had a very busy weekend early in October. On Saturday 7th over 100 people had a fabulous evening at the annual Dinner Dance at The Kubatin, Arboleas.
The food and service were excellent and the guests were entertained, until well after midnight, by the wonderful Jill Farmiloe.
The Mayor and his family attended as well as several councillors. Deputy Mayor, Mike Page and Councillor Danny Daniels both spoke, saying what valuable work the charity was doing for cancer sufferers in the area. The Mayor was presented with a photograph of the Town Hall. Jean Bircher, who is stepping down, gave a farewell speech and everyone stressed how much she will be missed for her tireless energy both in raising funds and caring for the clients.
Monday 9th saw the pre-launch of the Autumn/Winter Collections at GladRags in Albox. Guests were treated to cava and canapes whilst models showcased new lines from Maloka, Casa Mia and the UK High Street, in an array of sumptuous colours and beautiful fabrics. UK Lingerie in Spain by Leanne also launched their Autumn range. Jenny Rock of Glad Rags Boutique and Glad Rags Bangles & Bows announced that all proceeds from ticket sales and the raffle will go to Walk for Life Arboleas.
This important local charity published its first calendar this year and by early October it had almost sold out. Another print run was ordered and arrived on this same weekend. The calendars are on sale again in the following local outlets – in Albox at Sol Supermercado, Glad Rags, Almeria Homes, IBEX Insurance and Wavelengths. In Arboleas at Total Entertainment, Padpal Store, Coviran, Sophias and Calida Homes. In Zurgena at ALO Services (Amanda Oakley). They are just €5 and as the advertising has paid for all production costs every cent goes to the charity.
