For the second year running singer/songwriter Paco Damas gave a schools concert in the Adeje Cultural Centre with students from the Adeje IES secondary school, and Armeñime and San Miguel primary schools. The concert, yesterday morning (January 31 2017), was held to mark the celebration of School Day of Non-Violence and Peace.
According to Adeje councillor for education, Adolfo Alonso Ferrera, “music plays an important part in the creative and educational development of students, and concerts such as this are enriching their lives. Through music one can transmit messages of integration, fraternity and equality. From the council’s point of view it’s important to help initiatives of this kind as it allows us contribute to the integral training of our young people.”
Paco Damas is a well-known Andalucian musician who also interprets and sets poetry to music. He uses his songs and concerts to promote the cause of peace and has worked with many other artists including Aute, Pastora Soler and Mónica Molina.
There have been other events taking place in the borough to mark the day including a solidarity race with over 300 students.
