It’s all go at the Luvvies! Preparation for their production of Dinner Ladies, which will arrive on stage at the end of June, are cracking on faster than fried eggs on Gas Mark 3.
The Stage Army has started set building – it’s amazing how many bits and pieces are needed to create a canteen kitchen, and it’s amazing how big they need to be! But the lads and lasses backstage know what they are doing, to them it’s all in a day’s work.
What nobody knows is what the poster is going to be. It’s top secret, and is going to remain that way until it comes out at the end of this month. However, I can tell you in the strictest confidence that the words ‘Luvvies, Dinner and Ladies will feature quite prominently.
What about the virgins? If you thought that Dinner Ladies wasn’t ‘that kind of a show’ you’d be right – it isn’t – We’re talking about Stage Virgins, three of them.
The Luvvies are an amateur dramatics group based in Almeria. The group began in 2004 and since then has presented a number of productions. They always get a terrific response from the audiences and long may they continue.
They come in all shapes and sizes, from all backgrounds, and with all levels of experience. Even if you don’t fancy being on stage – there are always positions behind the scenes that they need help with.
The Luvvies is non-profit, though they have considerable expenses (storage, costumes, hall-hire, printing, transport, lighting, sound – to name a few areas), so self-financing via ticket sales, programmes, DVDs and other activities is important for them.
Their latest production, Dinner Ladies, is based on the well-known and loved comedy series written by Victoria Wood.

Elle, along with Alan, is the owner of Spain Buddy and the busy web design business – Spain Web Design by Gandy-Draper.
Born a “Norverner”, she then spent most of her life “Dann Saff” before moving to Spain in 2006. Elle’s loves are Alan, the internet, dogs, good food, and dry white wine – although not necessarily in that order.
