Sending a birthday card from Spain to the UK – The easy way!
My god, the world has gone mad today. It’s turned upside down! I find myself, right here, right now writing a post on something ‘warm and fluffy’ after Elle has just posted a rant about football of all topics! Talk about role reversal!
I’m not big on sending cards. In fact, apart from my three boys, I really can’t be bothered apart from two very good friends; one being my ‘best mate’ (4th September), and the other a very dear friend and business colleague who intimated over dinner, many years ago, with a bunch of people that nobody ever remembered his birthday (5th September). That time, as most times before and since, he was paying for everyone’s dinner around the table, and I made a mental note to never forget.
However, this year both have somehow slipped me by. Too late for the fourth, but my best friend is the kind of girl who’s more than happy with a phone call and us singing (badly) down the wire. But the 5th I thought I could do something about. As annoying as the adverts are it’s difficult not to remember the ads for Moonpig and FunkyPigeon so though I’d give one of them a shot to see if I could pull the situation back.
Plumping for FunkyPidgeon it seems to have worked. I’m actually very impressed. Being a tight wad I didn’t go for the guaranteed next day delivery. It costs, give or take a few pence, pretty much the same as a card and a first class stamp. Manufacturing the (personalised) card and postage are same day (if the order is placed before 2pm UK time), so with a bit of luck it should get there via first class tomorrow. It is the British Post though, so maybe not. But, the important thing is that the postmark will read the fourth – so it doesn’t look like we actually forgot for the first time in approaching twenty years!

I prefer to send all my cards via email (I design them myself, so they do have a really nice personal touch), saving myself postage *and* saving a tree in the process. ;)

Nice! We do design stuff too of course – but this saved us time and some of our friends still prefer a “paper” option. xx

I know. And it´s still nice sometimes to get a “real” card that you can hold in your grubby mits. I recently had a friend insisting that she send me a paper card because she does scrapbooking and makes them herself, and when I got it in the post I was so happy that she sent it to me because it was *gorgeous*!

Oh handmade cards are the best! I keep special ones in my “keepsake” box along with other sentimental stuff x
