The sixth edition of the Ruta de la Tapa in Huercal-Overa, Almería will be held from 4 to 13 November. This year more than thirty establishments are participating with the support of the town’s department of Tourism and Business.
Participants will be able to enjoy more than 60 tapa dishes across the more than 30 businesses. The route map is below.
Mayor of Huércal-Overa, Domingo Fernández described the events as, “a landmark in our calendar, bringing more to ensure that our tourism is successful. Restaurateurs have always enrolled in this city created event, to promote hospitality and encourage more people to get out on the streets. The truth is that this has been achieved. These ideas place Huércal-Overa as a benchmark for gastronomic levels.”
Head of Tourism and Business, Mónica Navarro, unveiled the plans including a new addition. This year four zones will be colour coded. To enter the prize draw, each participants must have eaten a minimum of two different tapas in each of the four colour-coded locations… with a minimum total of 10 stamps. Stamps are given when you eat one of the designated dishes.
Another addition to this year’s events is the “Eater of most tapas.” The person who has eaten the most will win a prize of B&B for two in the Casa Rural Aloe Vera as well as a selection of products from Almazara Óleo Járico and Bodegas Palomillo.
Tapas diners are encouraged to photograph the food they are enjoying, and to send those images to firstname.lastname@example.org who will then feature selected images on Facebook. One winner will then receive a meal for two valued at €100 as well as a case of products from Almazara Óleo Járico and Bodegas Palomillo.
– First Prize: Travel valued at 400 euros
– Second Prize: Annual subscription to the centro deportivo H20 and a selection of Cruzcampo products
– 3rd and 4th prizes: A case of products from Almazara Óleo Járico and Bodegas Palomillo.
Coeliacs catered for
Like last year, there are again a number of dishes suitable for coeliacs in several of the participating establishments.

In 2015, more than 50,000 tapas were served over the event’s duration… from 30 establishments.
