Refugees Welcome arrives in the Region of Murcia
Refugees Welcome Spain has been launched in Murcia by four volunteer residents of Murcia and Bullas. Its objective is to encourage inclusion and the facilitation of new opportunities for refugees by promoting coexistence in established homes.

Refugees Welcome Spain is part of an international organization created in 2014, started originally in Germany and now operates as a non-profit in 16 countries. Despite these turbulent times, the organization is committed to an inclusive and supportive environment in which the needs of people seeking international protection are taken into account.
The project is based on finding alternative accommodation for refugees, promoting coexistence between local people with extra room in their homes and those seeking international protection, whilst creating a warm welcome and mutual respect for those who need help. Each placement also has the support of a volunteer person (local link) who is in charge of facilitating and managing the relationship between the two parties.
At the time of writing, Refugees Welcome has achieved more than 1,600 placements, almost 100 of them in Spain.
Murcia joins the list of territories where the organization is already active: Galicia (recently created), Catalunya, Madrid, Balearic Islands and Valencia.
People willing to participate can help by offering space in their homes and/or collaborating as volunteers. Potential participants obtain more information on the official website. (Click here for machine translation into English)

Editors note: We here at Spain Buddy totally endorse and support this organisation! Have you ever thought about getting involved in this type of project and maybe been put off by your lack of Spanish language skills? Don’t be!
Many refugees arriving and in need of help are more likely to speak English (or French) as their first or second language. Your help is needed. Any enquiries to info@refugees-welcome.es will be answered in English.
