Nits a dalt de Vila in Tossa de Mar
Nits a dalt de Vila is a brand new festival, launching in September 2023 in Tossa de Mar. It will take place on Saturdays in September from 10:00pm* in Vila Vella and will have free entry.
The Tossa de Mar City Council has announced the launch of the “Nits a dalt de Vila” Festival, to start on September 2 2023.
“Dalt de Vila” is (for those who don’t know) a Tuscan expression to refer to Vila Vella: the only walled enclosure by the sea that has been preserved standing since the medieval era in Catalunya. The town expanded outside the walls from the Sixteenth century onwards and, to this day, going up to Vila Vella became a regular event for the people of Tuscany to participate in. Now, Vila Vella is one of the most emblematic images of the Costa Brava, but for the people of Tossa it is there to keep people “going uptown”.
The musical performances will take place in the old Church of Sant Vicenç, a fabulous amphitheater above the Mediterranean. The historic setting and the spectacular setting represented by the Vila Vella Church make it the ideal place to enjoy a good show.
The “Nits a dalt de Vila” Festival is a small festival, but of high quality. It must be said that the name of the Festival “Nits a dalt de Vila” has been chosen, so that it does not force the musical theme for future editions. This year, it will be dedicated to tribute groups that honor renowned artists both nationally and internationally. We have tried to design a festive and lively festival, to spend a good Saturday evening in Tossa.
In order to promote a longer tourist season, “Nits a dalt de Vila” is designed to take place during the month of September, a time when it is no longer the height of the high season, but turistic provisions are still important.
The schedule for this first edition of Nits a dalt de Vila is as follows:
- September 2: Toni Cayena, flamenco rumba.
- September 9: Encanto del Loco, tribute to “El Canto del Loco”.
- September 16: Ben Endins, tribute to “Sopa de Cabra”.
- September 23: Coldday, tribute to Coldplay.
- September 30: Akelarre, cover versions with magical empowerment.
*All performances will take place at 10:00 p.m., except for Akelarre’s performance, which will take place at 10:30 p.m. All will have free entry.
