Matthew, enjoyed the article. We are in the process of buying an apartment in the manilva area, and don’t often see much published about it. Thanks

We have had a townhouse in Manilva 5 minute walk from the centre for over 12 years. We are there about 5 months a year and 7 months in the UK. We go back to see children and grandchildren who also use the house and love it.

When we have had friends come out and they say how did you find Manilva, we just say we were lucky.

We are considering taking the plunge to retire to our apt in Duquesa ..any tips for a fu!filling retirement for financial or social advice would be welcomed! We love the area as we can mix with the British or Spanish and it is not too touristy but has all facilities close by.

Hi Sue. I’m afraid we’re holding off on any financial advice until after the referendum on June 23. Hopefully, the UK will vote to remain in the EU… and everything will carry on as normal. But until that point, we wouldn’t want to steer you wrong. You can ignore that if you’re not from the UK of course.

Regardless of that – definitely learn the language. That will be your biggest hurdle. The rest can all be solved with money (such as paying someone to help with paperwork and finding somewhere to live).

      Good luck with everything!
