When did you move to Spain, and where from?
I moved to Spain roughly 9 years ago from Whitley Bay back in the North East of England! Initially I went to Barcelona for about 18 months then down to Almeria!
Who came with you?
I came out on my own, I found a job through the internet applied and hopped on the plane!
Where in Spain do you live now?
I currently live in the Huercal-Overa area of Almeria with my gorgeous wife. We love the area, it is beautiful, and have met some fantastic people.
Do you work? As what?
I am currently working at the Sol Times Newspaper. I have plans to obviously grow my own website and turn it into something big. I also have other ideas for websites that will come later 2014 or into 2015… Keep an eye out…
How are you with speaking Spanish?
My Spanish is fair, better than most out here. I worked in a bar for a while and this certainly helped, plus my time with the Huercal-Overa football club allowed me to get more accustomed to business Spanish as opposed to conversational..
If you could change one thing about Spain… what would that be?
The only way that I think that Spain as a nation can improve would be to make it less of an ordeal when trying to buy, build or do anything that requires the signing of paperwork and permission.. Sadly it seems that the country is in the dark ages but I can understand why this is… Also Stop the siestas and have more shopping available at the weekend when people have time to shop…
What is the best thing about living in Spain?
The weather is obviously a major incentive but for me the diet & food is fantastic and so varied.. Fantastic fresh local produce..
What is your favourite Spanish dish?
There are too many to mention really… But If I was pushed I would need to go for Patatas Pobre or a Valencian Paella! Food of the gods…
What is the predominant nationality of your friends in Spain?
I would say the majority of our friends are Brits but we do have many Spanish, Ukrainian and Dutch friends..
If you won the Euromilliones – would you still live where you currently are?
I would certainly still live in the area and invest in the local community and try to make a difference! Also have some cracking holidays.
If a movie was made about your life – who would play you?
Being a Geordie it would have to be Jimmy Nail….
If you had to describe yourself as a sandwich filling… what would you be?
Corned Beef and Onion! Not flashy but still has charm. You get what you see.
Right – now is the chance to tell us all about your business/website/blog if you have one (or more of course). Go for your life!
