Learning Spanish – Telling The Time
“¿Qué hora es?” (What is the time?) is a useful phrase to know when learning Spanish. Although things in Spain aren’t done to the minute… there is still structure to the day – so don’t believe everything you hear.
What time is it? – ¿Qué hora es?
It’s midday / midnight – Es medioia / medianoche
It’s three o’clock – Son las tres
It’s ten past nine in the morning – Son las nueve y diez de la mañana
It’s ten past two in the afternoon – Son las dos y diez de la tarde
At half past eight in the evening – A las ocho y media de la tarde
At twenty to seven in the morning – A las siete menos veinte de la mañana
At quarter to eleven at night – A las once menos cuarto de la noche
What time do you close? – ¿A qué hora cierran?
