La Gería
La Geria is the winemaking region of the island and the scenery is breathtaking. Black lava fields covered with vines in horseshoe shaped “zocos”, with white buildings dotted about.
La Gería must be seen – it’s vital to include on your things to do on Lanzarote itinerary. The landscape is spectacular!
There are several bodegas along the way through that will happily show you around and allow you to sample with a view to buying a bottle or two of the fantastic wines.
If you’re not driving, there are several island tours available that can take you.
Lanzarote wines are extremely well respected and I can heartily recommend the the dry white Bermejo from personal experience – it’s my global favourite! Grab me a bottle while you’re there!
La Gería: if you can’t get there
If you are unable to explore the island but have a market in your resort, look out for the Wine Man – he can help you out. He’s quite a character and very friendly.
