Jet2 flight in hijack scare
Passengers on a Jet2 flight from the East Midlands got a little more than they bargained for after landing at Son Sant Joan airport in Palma, Mallorca.

The plane was surrounded by police after it landed in Mallorca after police suspected the plane had been hijacked.
Passengers had to sit tight while officials investigated.
All was well though when it was revealed that the pilot had accidentally caused a false alert in communications with air traffic control. Because the pilot was having difficulty communicating using the usual channels, he used one that should be used only for hijack situations.
Spain’s Guardia Civil and National Police held an emergency meeting, culminating in the plane being surrounded as it landed in Mallorca.
However, after a quick chat with the pilot, who assured police and officials that all was well, the passengers were able to begin their holiday on the sunny island of Mallorca, albeit with an interesting story to take home to their friends.
