Your full name (required)
Jackie Lee
When did you move to Spain, and where from?
We moved to Lanzarote in 2004 from the UK. We had been holidaying here for some years but decided that we wanted to make it our home so in 2003 we bought a piece of land and I designed a villa and we then had it built and moved over in 2004
Who came with you?
My husband Paul but our 3 children and 6 grandchildren love to holiday here when they can.
Where in Spain do you live now?
We live in Puerto Calero on Lanzarote near a fabulous marina
What things (apart from loved ones) do you miss from your country of birth?
Apart from family we don’t really miss anything except maybe a good postal service might be nice, as when you order things online you never really know when you might receive things and if you will have to pay any import duty.
Do you work? As what?
Yes I have two wonderful businesses, the first I started in 2008 and I write and take personalised Wedding Blessing services and Renewal of vows services here in Lanzarote. I am an English speaking Celebrant and I just love helping couples make their dreams come true. At the moment its a little difficult because of the pandemic but all my weddings and renewals have rescheduled to next year so I will be extremely busy next year and have lots of bookings for 2022 too.
My second business is called Jackie Lee your Fairy Godmother and is an online worldwide business helping ladies over 45 years old with things like confidence, motivations, eating healthy and living longer and also lots of creativity and hobbies to enhance their lives and we also support new online businesses too.
This I only launched in May 1st 2020 but it is growing all over the world and helping so many ladies especially with anxiety at the moment.
How are you with speaking Spanish?
I know the basics and get by but have just started a new course as I feel its important to learn to speak better Spanish.
If you could change anything about Spain… what would that be? And why?
No we love living in Lanzarote, we love the relaxed lifestyle and the people we have met and of course the beautiful weather.
What are the best things about living in Spain?
The weather and the relaxed lifestyle and the area we live in of Puerto Calero, and the local food too.
What are your favourite Spanish dishes?
Garlic prawns, Canarian potatoes and tapas of all kinds really and the goats cheeses available.
What is the predominant nationality of your friends in Spain?
Its English and Irish due to my weddings and renewals at the most part but we do have a few Spanish friends and I hope this will grow when I can speak more fluently.
If you won the Euromilliones – would you still live where you currently are? Why / why not?
Yes we would because of all the reasons above but I would build another house and also a couple of places to rent out too.
If a movie was made about your life – who would play you? Why?
Helena Bonham Carter because she can be funny whilst totally getting her point across. I feel she is a genuinely nice person too
If you had to describe yourself as a cocktail… what would you be, and why?
I would be something with chocolate , vodka and gold leaf in like a martini type glass , so it would be luxurious, smooth and delicious and extravagant too.
Right – now is the chance to tell us all about your business/website/blog if you have one (or more of course).
My websites are Wedding Blessings Lanzarote and Jackie Lee: Your Fairy Godmother
I don’t have a blog as yet and I think I have described them above.
They both fit with my mission in life and values which is to help as many people as I can during my lifetime and to leave a legacy of this too.
