Interview Corner – Danielle Collins
Danielle Collins is getting comfy in our Interview Corner today. If you’d like to be featured, scroll down to the link at the bottom of the article. But before you do, find out more about this lady who lives in rural Almería.
Your full name?
Danielle Collins
When did you move to Spain, and where from?
I moved here in July 2015 from North Devon in the UK.
Who came with you?
My partner Nicolas & our dog Yoshi.
Where in Spain do you live now?
In a country house between Mojacar Pueblo & Turre.
What things (apart from loved ones) do you miss from your country of birth?
Cake, autumn colours, cloudy days, pubs.
Do you work? As what?
I work freelance in internet marketing, though work is on hold for a few months as I had a baby in July. You could say I’m working as a parent although the hours are much longer than any job I’ve done before & of course it’s far more rewarding. (Computer screens don’t smile at you when you sing to them.)
How are you with speaking Spanish?
I speak a little though understand a lot more. I lack confidence with speaking.
If you could change anything about Spain… what would that be? And why?
Beauracracy, the paper work trail is a bit ott. And mosquitos.
What are the best things about living in Spain?
Being able to spend time outside all year around, the looming mountains & open roads. Parking is still free in many areas and there’s the sense of being a bit back in time compared to the UK. The media is far less obtrusive as well.
What are your favourite Spanish dishes?
Patatas bravas, calamari frito, my father in law’s mixed paella & churros
What is the predominant nationality of your friends in Spain?
50/50 as my partner’s family are Spanish on his father’s side & he was born in Mojacar.
If you won the Euromilliones – would you still live where you currently are? Why / why not?
Yes, we would keep our current house as it’s a long term project that we’re making improvements to it so we want to enjoy the hard work that’s going into it. It would be fun splashing a bit of cash around though, my first purchase would be a giant cactus. I would also buy a house in Bristol for a base when I visit my sister.
If a movie was made about your life – who would play you? Why?
Sigorny Weaver is my movie heroine but the age gap is too big so I’d have to go with Alexandra Daddario as we both have big eyes, pale skin & are a bit goofy.
If you had to describe yourself as a cocktail… what would you be, and why?
I would be a pornstar martini as it combines the sharp & sweetness with the passion fruit and vanilla vodka yet still manages to shake you up with a shot of cava at the end. It’s a well balanced cocktail which suits me as a Librian.
Right – Danielle Collins – now is the chance to tell us all about your business/website/blog if you have one (or more of course).
I don’t have a website but offer PPC services for AdWords, Bing, Facebook & other platforms if anyone requires a bit of help to increase their online visibilty and/ or increase sales.
