Horse Riding in Almeria
I used to love horse riding as a boy and rode every week for a number of years. That was a hell of a long time ago and I haven’t been on a horse in what must be over twenty five years now.
In fact the last time I rode a horse I got thrown and kicked in a somewhat ‘delicate’ area; it’s a wonder that I managed to father three kids following that episode! Not that it put me off, you have to expect that sometimes; I just haven’t got around to it since.
Yesterday I had the opportunity to rectify that, and I loved it.
A huge thank you to the lovely family that own Rancho Luz Del Sol in Partaloa near Albox in Almeria. If you are in the area and fancy giving it a go, you should give them a call, you won’t be disappointed. As well as trekking they offer lessons, livery and also dedicated riding holidays for the true enthusiast.
What could be better than wandering around the hills of Almeria on horseback? I thoroughly enjoyed myself!

Hi Alan,
I am visiting ROQUETAS in a weeks time and our girl aged 8 would love to do some riding – she has had experience in Germany so not complete novice.
Maybe adults can ride in a group too
Please advise what is on offer for her, school, just rides, etc

I found a horse trekking company close to the Tabernas desert (closer to you than this one) for someone on TripAdvisor the other day. I’ve no personal experience of them… but they may be worth chatting to?
