An estate agent based in Almanzora in Almeria, Annika Elena van der Pluijm (AKA: Ana van der Pluijm and Ana Sanchez), has vanished from the area – seemingly with hundreds of thousands of Euros of other people’s money. She is alleged to have fraudulently obtained deposits and other advance on properties for sale, rent to buy and for rent in Partaloa, Almanzora, Cantoria and Albox.
The situation emerged as a result of a post on a local forum when a member pointed out they were having difficulty contacting Ana Sanchez (one of the names she uses) of Inmobiliaria Partaloa on an aptly titled thread “My Agent’s done a runner?” on the 29th January.
As you can imagine the thread gathered much attention, and it very quickly became apparent that a number of others could not find this agent and had also lost money. So much so that by the following day, once a number of other people had contacted the original poster, the running total was €235,000. The latest estimated total is thought to be over €750,000!
It would appear from the conversation on the forum and from a Facebook page that has been set up following the discovery that a whole host of people, many from the UK and other European countries, had handed over cash over the space of a few short weeks.
People had paid deposits on properties for sale or rent, and a number of allegations were made that Ana van der Pluijm had ‘sold’ or ‘rented’ properties multiple times.
One such property was a large property she was ‘selling’ that she and her family were, wait for it, renting! They didn’t own the property, and nor did their landlord know they were selling it!
Now, I’m no legal expert, and I firmly believe in the principle of ‘innocent until proven guilty’, but it’s not looking good by this point is it? Add to that the fact that Ana, her partner Tom (Thomas Dollekes AKA: Thomas van der Pluijm), their two young sons and her parents John and Inge along with 15 Presa Canario dogs (which they breed) have vanished into thin air and it looks even more suspicious. Surely it must be difficult to hide that number of very large and distinctive dogs?
Obliviously denuncias have been filed and the Guardia informed, but nobody has been able to find the missing estate agent and her family to date. My personal best guess is that they’d be well out of Spain by now and gearing up to restart their apparent ‘family business’ somewhere else in Europe. It would seem from some of the information that has turned up subsequently they have some history of compatible ‘business interests’ in France and Hungary (you’ll need Google Translate). Other rumours have surfaced that Tom is wanted by German Police and that they have done something very similar in another region of Spain. So far those are just that, rumours, so we can’t comment at this stage. Should any evidence that there is any truth in the allegations we’ll come back and update this article.
If you know anything of the whereabouts of Ana van der Pluijm (Dutch, DOB 01.02.79) or Thomas Dollekes (German, DOB 04.05.71) we’re sure the Guardia Civil would be happy to hear from you! Those who have allegedly lost money have set up the Facebook page ‘Catch these Scammers?’, they too would likely be very grateful for any information on their whereabouts or any other information about these seemingly highly dodgy individuals.
This woman and her family could be anywhere in Europe. Please share this article with all your friends on Facebook, Twitter, G+, forums and email contacts.
In true Crimewatch style I’ll conclude this article with something along the lines of, “Don’t worry. Not all estate agents are like this. Incidents like these are very rare. In fact, estate agents hate this behaviour as much as anyone else as this sort of thing damages the reputation of the industry as a whole.”
