F.A.C.E. have a busy weekend
Despite the fact that it was the hottest night of the year so far and the event clashed with the Noche de San Juan events, more than 140 persons visited the F.A.C.E. ( Fundraising in Arboleas, Caring for Everyone) Summer Night Market, which was held at the Bar Kubatin in Arboleas on Friday 23rd June.
Stalls were on offer to visitors, selling everything from jewellery to hand crafted painted tiles. M.A.C.S. (Mojacar Area Cancer Support) and the Arboleas Walk for Life teams were also present, where people were on hand to answer questions about the sterling service both charities provide. Further more there was also a tombola and a raffle operated by F.A.C.E. it’s self.
Hungry and thirsty visitors were well catered for by the staff of the Hostel Meson, whilst they enjoyed entertainment provided by Smooth FM’s Ray Peters as well as Charlie, the English Singer in Spain, who both performed throughout the entire night.
The night markets are always popular locally, and as always the main aim was to raise money for the various charities that F.A.C.E. supports. This event was no different with more than €720 being raised.
Main aim accomplished, it was not all about fundraising. Money was also presented to deserving local causes. Grupo Scout 106 del Saliente, based in Albox, were presented with five tents valued at €500. Karen Revel, the President of Harmony Community Support, based in La Alfoquia, was also presented with €500 and this will assist Harmony in being able to carry out the good work they perform throughout the area. A donation of €1,000 was made to Gaye Lazell, who was representing “The Little Owls”. This will be used to purchase further items of equipment and paraphenalia, which will be used by clients that “The Little Owls” Support. Finally F.A.C.E. presented the team from M.A.C.S. (Mojacar Area Cancer Support) with €1,052-95. This will pay for a complete new set of uniforms for all the volunteers that work in the five M.A.C.S. Charity shops in Albox, Huercal Overa, Mojacar, Los Buganvilleas and Turre and all the uniforms will carry the F.A.C.E. logo.
On Saturday 24th June, F.A.C.E. were again on the fundraising trail. At Legends Bar on the Poligano Llanos de Arboleas Estate, a charity concert was arranged featuring the fabulous Bella Luna who travelled down from Alicante to perform at this one off event. A fabulous evening was had by one and all and a further €324 was raised.
