Expat interview – Freddy Leon
This week’s expat interview is with Freddy Leon, a face that many in Playa Blanca will recognise. Freddy is probably the biggest cat lover in the south of the island and can often be found topping up their food bowls around the town. When did you move to Spain, and where from?
I am from Germany and I came to Lanzarote in 1994
Who came with you?
I came alone
Where in Spain do you live now?
In Lanzarote
What things (apart from loved ones) do you miss from your country of birth?
The green country and autumn and spring and German bread
Do you work? As what?
I am retired and my passion is to take care for the stray cats.
How are you with speaking Spanish?
I learned by listening but my grammar is not so good
If you could change one thing about Spain… what would that be?
Law should be more respected
What are the best things about living in Spain?
The climate, the Spanish people and there way of life.
What are your favourite Spanish dishes?
Papas arrugadas, fish and cactus fruit
What is the predominant nationality of your friends in Spain?
Swiss, Italians and Luxemburg
If you won the Euromilliones – would you still live where you currently are? Why? Why not?
Yes I would because Lanzarote is a very special island with a lot of things to explore
If a movie was made about your life – who would play you? Why?
Brad Pitt because he can play any character nearly pefect. So why not me!
If you had to describe yourself as a cocktail… what would you be, and why?
I am as healthy and powerful as a fruit cocktail
