El Día del Vino in Huercal-Overa
El Día del Vino was once again a great success, uniting kiddies and grownups in the treading of the grapes in Puertecico, Hyércal-Overa.
This year was held in the hamlet of Puertecico, on the outskirts of Almería town Huércal-Overa. It was held alongside other traditional festivals for the grape harvest.
This was the fourth edition of the event and attracted numerous residents and visitors all keen to watch or get involved.
Mayor of Huércal-Overa, Domingo Fernández, and the Councillor for Culture, Belén Martínez, shared the day with the neighbors in an environment in which coexistence was the dominant note.
The grape treading is always a popular event each year and is embraced by the Huecalense population. The Mayor explained that from this year onwards it will be rotated around various hamlets, ensuring that all areas get to enjoy the experience on their home turf. he went on to say, “Many families in our municipality have their own vineyards and annually carry out the entire process to produce their wines.”
Tha dult winners were Antonio and Maria who crushed 23 litres, while Raúl and Eva won the kiddies’ category with 12.7 litres.
There was also plenty of opportunities for the adults to taste the local wines from previous years and to find about more about the areas’ produce from wine connoiseurs.
