It will be a little different at the town hall this November as Universal Children’s Day in Huércal-Overa, Almería, gets off to a young start.
On November 20 there will be a children’s party in the afternoon in the Plaza de la Constitución with chestnut and plays. It all begins at 5:30pm with roasted chestnuts, plays for the kids and inflatables.
Councillor for Social Welfare, Mónica Sánchez, explained, “Just as last year, we do not want to overlook this date of celebration for all our children. It’s their day and they have to be the focus of this party in which they can share great memories with friends and families enjoying games in the inflatables and with chestnuts for all the attendees.”
The same day, through an initiative promoted by the youth of the municipality, a meal will also be held in Plaza de la Constitución. This is a meal to raise funds for the children of the Dominican Republic. The meal is from noon until 5pm, and will feature entertainment and children’s entertainment.
The following day on Monday 21, 6th grade students from the different schools of the municipality will take the Plenary meeting in the town hall by presenting their proposals for the municipality to the Mayor in a session that will be held at the Villa de Huércal-Overa Theater at noon. This helps the children learn more about the town in which they live, as well as some of the work that goes into making it a happy home for them and their families.
But that’s not all. From 9am until 11am on Friday November 16 is an event for Careers at UNICEF. This will involve students from IES Albujaira and Cura Valera – a solidarity test in which the educational community is involved.
Sánchez encouraged the children to participate in as many of the activities as they can and to enjoy their day.
