This week in Billy Boxer’s Corner is “Negri”, who is desperately seeking a new forever home. Over to his current “Mummy” who can tell you a lot more.
Date of birth: 07/10/14
Information and back story: Negri has had 2 rabia and vacuna, he has been castrated and his blood test was negative. He’s a happy lad, bright, brilliant off lead. He came into 4 paws adoptions in September 2015 and was adopted to Finland in May 2016.
(I was asked to take these 2 dogs NEGRI previously named BEAST and a small female called BEAUTY as they were being mistreated and finally taken off owner and taken into the perrera).
After a little while in Finland where NEGRI had been adopted, the family called my contact of the Finnish association I deal with to say that the dog was sick, couldn’t get on the sofa, wouldn’t play with the children and looked sick. The suggestion was made to take Negri to the vet. The family did so and the vet just wanted to put NEGRI to sleep. My contact went and collected Negri and had him tested for Leish at their own vet – the test came back positive.
We sent over some medication and the family (now understanding what the problem was) agreed to take him back. However, a couple of weeks later they ocntacted us again and said they were taking him to the vet. Our Finnish contact went and collected the dog and ten tablets (there should NOT have been any medicine left by then!!!).
After seeing the photos, we arranged for Negri to be returned to us on the Costa del Sol. He came home in September 2016.
Negri is still having medicine for leish, although he now shows no outwards signs and is having no internal problems. He is due for another test in August and we are hoping that his levels will have reduced.
Negri now looks healthy. He has a good shiny coat.
He is so deserving of a forever home. Leish is very manageable as can be read about here – and the right owners could give him so much love and care and be well rewarded with an amazing loving boy.
Due to his time in kennels, he has developed a couple of bad habits such as aggression towards cats and when on his lead… but a patient owner could soon help him with that.
When he is let off the lead for a little run, his recall is brilliant – he comes straight back! He loves to run and although he loves his 90 minute morning walk and 30/40 minute afternoon walk… he is pining during those caged hours.
Negri is a mixed breed dog, weighs 22kilos and stands 60cms to his withers.
If you would like to see extra photos or videos – including “efore and after” I can send these.
