5 Málaga city beaches receive Q quality mark again
Good news for La Misericordia, El Palo, Pedregalejo, El Fido and Malagueta-La Caleta beaches as they receive the Q quality mark for 2017, bringing Málaga province’s total to 29.
Málaga City was represented by the Councillor for Beaches, Miguel Méndez. He met in Madrid this week with the Secretary of State for Tourism, Matilde Pastora Asian, and the president of the Institute for Quality, Miguel Mones.
This year the recognition has gone to the beaches of La Misericordia, El Palo, Pedregalejo, El Dedo and La Malagueta-La Caleta. This forms a public acknowledgment of the efforts that municipalities, public workers and technicians have given to meet the Spanish tourist quality system and thereby obtain the Q mark, a symbol of guarantee.
Misericordia and El Dedo have been certified with the “Q” of Quality since 2006, while Pedregalejo and El Palo have been certified since 2007. La Malagueta-La Caleta has had the distinction for two years. The “Q” Mark, the most visible element of the whole system and whose generic name is ‘Calidad Turistica Española’, is the seal of guarantee common to anything related to tourist services or products. ICTE exclusively manages and manages this brand, issuing, where appropriate, the certificate of conformity and use license.
This distinction fulfills a series of characteristics giving prestige, differentiation, reliability and rigour to the certified tourist establishments.
The image of the Spanish Tourist Quality Mark, with more than 2,000 establishments certified with the corresponding seal, is being recognised both nationally and internationally.
QUALITY “Q” FLAG
A flag with the Q of Quality assures of the daily cleaning of the sand, information on the state of the sea, qualified lifeguards, signals for areas of risk or limited swimming, and more. The Q flag means that the city council that manages the beach is completely committed to environmental preservation and is responsible for everything being done in the best possible way respecting dunes, fauna and flora. Likewise, food safety is closely monitored in the chiringuitos of municipal management.
INSTITUTE FOR SPANISH TOURIST QUALITY (INSTITUTO PARA LA CALIDAD TURÍSTICA ESPAÑOLA – ICTE)
The Institute for Tourism Quality, an entity in charge of granting the “Q” Mark, is a private certification body specially created in 2000 for the development of quality in the tourism sector. Its members are the most important tourist business organizations in this country. It also has the participation of the Secretary of State for Tourism, the Autonomous Communities and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.
