Do you have the time and experience to help Samaritans in Spain continue to grow to meet the increasing demand for its services?

Vacancies at The Samaritans

An interesting and rewarding opportunity has now arisen for two people with management experience to serve with the Board of Trustees of Samaritans in Spain. The Board of Trustees (the Board) manages and coordinates the operation of the charity, ensures compliance with policies and procedures and formulates and implements the strategic plans. The Board meets monthly at the charity’s headquarters in Torrevieja and Trustees also regularly attend other charity events. Samaritans in Spain also has satellite centres in Denia and Madrid.

It is anticipated that the two new members of the Board will take on the duties of Secretary and Director of Commercial Operations – but the precise role descriptions may also be adjusted to suit the successful candidates and fit with the current responsibilities of the existing members of the Board. It is expected that all Trustees will familiarise themselves with the Samaritans core service and its delivery. Trustee positions are voluntary; only expenses are payable.

Ideally candidates will have previous experience at management level, especially in the field of HR, corporate governance or retail operations, other NGO and community services, or as a Samaritan in UK. Applications are welcome from fluent English speakers of any nationality. Some Spanish language ability would be helpful. Own transport is essential.

If you are interested in this opportunity to join the Board please contact Secretary Ole Jung o.m.jung@gmail.com, as soon as possible for an application form and further information. Please note that references will be required for background checks due to the sensitive nature of the Samaritans service.
The closing date for the submission of completed applications will be Monday 31st October and it is expected that interviews will be held during early November.
