As official hotel partner for the first ever Madrid Design Festival taking place during February, Only YOU Hotel Atocha welcomes the festival’s guest city, Helsinki, by giving over its seventh floor to Finland’s capital city, internationally acclaimed for its design excellence.

Séptima, the panoramic restaurant at Only YOU Hotel Atocha will host a pop-up restaurant with chef Jyrki Tsutsunento – renowned for representing ‘hygge’ in the kitchen during 6-16 February. Meanwhile to celebrate the on-trend comeback of saunas, the hotel’s terrace will be taken over by a temporary designer sauna created by architect Jairo Rodríguez.

Séptima will also be following the Finnish tradition of celebrating 14th February not as a day of lovers, but as a day of friendship: Ystävänpäivä.

On 14 February, Only YOU guests can enjoy a sauna on the terrace, a Finnish dinner and a musical performance by Helsinki-born Oliver Green.

The menu at €40 includes five courses with Finnish ingredients including Whitefish roe, smoked salmon, nettles, elk steak, pinecone cheese and Meadowsweet brûlée and black cranberry sorbet.

Visitors to the city during February can also enjoy three free design exhibitions between 6-25 February at Madrid’s only purpose built cultural centre – the Fernan Gomez Centro de Arte in the Plaza de Colon.

The Exhibitions are free and open from 10.00 am – 9.00 pm:

  • Jaime Hayón. A retrospective of this Madrid-born artist-designer is one of the most acclaimed creators worldwide. He is respected for his furniture designs, art installations, interiors and wrist watches
  • The Alfaro Hofman Collection. This collection provides a chronological look at the evolution of design and technology of household objects during the 20th century
  • ‘Vinyl Graphics.’ This exhibition takes an extensive look at iconic album covers from the 20th and 21st centuries and showcases the talent of designers including John Berg (Barbara Streisand, Chicago, Bob Dylan) Milton Glaser – who designed the I heart NY logo, Saul Bass (Green Day, White Stripes, Miles Davis) and Peter Blake – famous for The Beatles Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band cover.
