The Huercal-Overa carnival 2017 details have been finalised and we can now confirm much of the information. The carnival runs on February 24 and 25 2017.

The councilor for Festivities, Belén Martínez, met with the representatives of the Carnival clubs to finalize the details of this year’s carnival.

Among the news that has been announced today by Huércal-Overa council is rthe change of schedule. The parade will take place at 6pm from Plaza Reina Sofia, travelling through part of Avenida Doctor Jiménez Díaz, through the Plaza de España and Calle Doctor Severo Ochoa , continuing along Ave nida Guillermo Reyna, Calles Mercado, Ancha, Granada, Mayor, Antonio Beltran, Plaza Cura Valera and Plaza de la Constitución, ending in the municipal tent installed in the Plaza Mayor.

The prizes for this year are also different. There will be a a first, second and third prize and the addition of new awards that will reward originality, choreography and fantasy, among others.

Martinez said that “from the City Council we have added several new features for Carnival 2017. However, before defining them, we considered it right to speak with the clubs that are part of it, and the truth is that the climate has been one of consensus and agreement. The proposals were made and finally among all those present at the meeting we finalised the changes for this year. Carnival is a reality thanks to all who are part of it and therefore we consider that the decisions that are made about it must be agreed among everyone.”

In addition, there will be various musical themes that will form part of the repertoire of the parade.

Registration for both the Children’s Carnival and the Adult Carnival can be made from Monday 6 to February 22 at the Teatro Villa de Huércal-Overa.

In the case of the Children’s Carnival, whose parade will be on February 24 in the afternoon, all children enrolled in schools in the municipality may participate. If the Center or College participates as a single entity, it must be at least a minimum of 30 children. The parade will start from Avenida Guillermo Reyna, at the top of the Plaza de la Paz and the route will continue through the streets: Mercado, Ancha, Granada, Mayor, Posadas, Avda Guillermo Reyna ending up in the municipal tent located in the Plaza Mayor.

At the end of the parade there will be a big carnival party with animation, inflatables and the musical Viva la Carnaval de la Pandilla de Drilo.

The Adult Carnival will be celebrated on February 25th from 16pm and all the clubs or groups who wish to participate must have a minimum of ten people.

To participate in the contest, groups must register as of Monday, February 6.
