Christmas in Adeje, Tenerife, is almost upon us, and with it comes a month full of fun family activities inluding culture, sport, nativity scenes, the Three Kings and much much more.

Christmas in Adeje - 2016

The Adeje council has put together a programme of cultural, liturgical and sporting events, not to mention working on the different cribs and nativity scenes throughout the borough, Christmas markets, concerts and a lot more. And the full schedule of events comes to a spectacular conclusion on January 5th when Their Majesties, the Three Kings of the Orient arrive by helicopter to Adeje and then take part in the annual parade up the town’s main street.

Among the eagerly awaited events too is the New Year’s Eve party in the Plaza de España, with music from the Milenium Band, the Sensación Gomera orchestra and the Maquinaria Band.

The cribs and nativity scenes are all worth visiting include the one designed and crafted by the Adeje Senior Citizens, on display in the lower level of the Adeje Cultural Centre.  On Friday December 9th the Armeñime scene will be open to the public, in La Viña on December 18th and the living nativity will take place in Tijoco-la Hoya on Friday December 16th at 8.30pm.

Over the first weekend of December the Tenerife LAN party is taking place in the Costa Adeje Tourism Development Centre (CDTCA) alongside the Christmas Fair – with something for everyone in the family.  This is on from Friday December 2nd to Sunday December 4th, until 9pm each day.  Saturday December 3rd will also see the Asociación San Juan host their Christmas market in their grounds, the municipal band play the Santa Cecilia concert and the official switching on of the Christmas lights take place along the Calle Grande at 7pm.  This will be followed by a gospel concert in Los Olivos with Gospel Shine Voices.

There is also a gospel event, though of a different nature, Esther & Augusto, on Tuesday December 6th in the Convent.  And the following Saturday the Gospel Shine Voices can be heard again, this time in the Plaza de España. Also on that evening the public can enjoy the Christmas market along the Calle Grande, from 5pm to 1am along with music, bouncy castles, story-telling, etc.  Saturday 17th is the date for the military concert in the Magma centre, with music from the Adeje municipal band, the Guía de Isora band and the musical unit of the Canarian Command and the Nº2 Army Band BRICALM-XVI.

The last week before Christmas sees the Christmas Unity Concert on December 22nd in the Plaza de España with the participation of many of the municipal cultural schools and bands, and the annual Carol Service in Callao Salvaje is on December 23rd at 7pm.
