It’s that time of year again as Albox Feria 2015 kicks off this weekend in Spain Buddy’s nearest town. As always, the focus is on livestock and music. However, there are also events for the kids and for petrolheads.

Saturday October 24

  • 8pm. Rock Albox. Come and rock hearty in the Recinto Ferial. Dating from 1985, Rock Albox is the longest running rock festival in Spain. A huge chunk of the proceeds from the bar and entry goes to A.E.C.C., Spain’s cancer charity

Sunday October 25

  • 10am. Motocross Circuito La Mina. The noise continues in Albox, but this time it is the roar of engines. There are a number of competing categories, with drivers from all over Spain
  • 10pm. Dancing. Get those feet tapping in the pensioners’ Club
  • 11am. Hash House Harriers. Meet in front of Hotel Restaurante La Parrilla. There will be two routes. One for the walkers (including Elle) and one for those that are a little more energetic.

Tuesday October 27

  • 4pm. Football 7s tournament

Wednesday October 28

  • 4pm. Football 7s tournament

Thursday October 29

  • 8pm. Switching on of the lights. At the Recinto Ferial

Friday October 30

  • 2pm. Feria del Medodía. Loads of food and refreshments… accompanied by music from Ilusiones
  • 5pm. Dance demonstration. Sevillana Group Nuestra Sra. Del Saliente and the Municipal School of Cerricos
  • 10pm. Music. An orchestral performance by Norte. In the Caseta Municipal
  • Midnight. Music. Get stoimping with La Union.

Saturday October 31

  • 9am. Card game. “Ronda”. Played in recognition of “José Ramón Aguilera Capel.” Mesón Las Tejeras
  • 9am – 5pm. Fair in the Plaza de Abastos. Includes a partridge exhibition.
  • 10.30am. Parade. Street parade with Flores Factory & Compàny – a charanga band.
  • 12.30pm. Official Feria ceremony by Juan Francisco Torregrosa Carmona. Salón de Actos Federico García Lorca in the Town Hall of Albox
  • 2pm. Feria del Medodía. Loads of food and refreshments… accompanied by music from Ilusiones and Galaxiay (quartet)
  • 5pm. Horse riding. Corrida de Cintas a Caballo. Ribbon races – with horses. What’s not to like?
  • 10pm. Music. Maxims provide an orchestral performance in the Caseta Municipal.

Sunday November 1

  • 9am. Livestock fair. Held in the rambla
  • 9am – 5pm. Fair in the Plaza de Abastos. Includes a partridge exhibition.
  • 9am – 5pm. 4×4 route. The route starts at Calle Poeta Juan Berbel.
  • 10am. Petanque. Comne to the rambla and see how the Spanish play their version of bowls.
  • 10am – 2pm. Moto Almuerzo. Petrolheads on two wheels this time. The riders leave the Pabellón Municipal, through Albox streets before heading up to Saliente. The €5 entry fee includes a t-shirt a a feed when you get back from Saliente.
  • 11am. Classic Cars. A stunning car exhibition in Plaza Nueva. The cars then head up to Saliente. If you’d like to include your car, there is a €5 entry fee (payable on the day). Cars must be 25 years or older.
  • 2pm. Feria del Medodía. Loads of food and refreshments… accompanied by music from Ilusiones
  • 4.30pm. Fashion. A competition for the best flamenco outfit.
  • 5pm. 4×4 gymkana. In the rambla.
  • 5.30pm. Dance. A demonstration form Albaida, a Sevillana dance troupe.
  • 6pm. Trophy presentation for the winner of the partridge exhibition.
  • 10pm. Music. Expresiones provide an orchestral performance in the Caseta Municipal.
  • Midnight. Music. More music and dancing with Los Rebujitos.

Monday November 2

  • 9am. Cycling. Cyclists meet at Calle Poeta Juan Berbel, before a ride around the town
  • 10.30am. Games. Games and bouncy stuff for the youngsters in the Pabellón Municipal
  • 2pm. Feria del Medodía. Loads of food and refreshments… accompanied by music from Abraxas and Orquestra Norte
  • 5pm. Dance. A zumba demonstration in the Recinta Ferial from the Escuela Municipal de Zumba and Grupo de Zumba del Centro de Agua y Salud.
  • 6pm. Dance. More foot stomping, this time by Aires de Feria… a Flamenco group
  • 6pm. Darts. Tournament, in the “Why Not!” bar
  • 10pm. Music. Orquestra Norte provide an orchestral performance in the Caseta Municipal.

Tuesday November 3

  • 2pm. Feria del Medodía. Loads of food and refreshments… accompanied by music from Orquestra Norte
  • 4pm. Pigeons. A pigeon race – released from the Rambla
  • 8.30pm. Party. This one is especially for the elderly. Held in the Caseta Municipal, it features TV stars Maria Lozano and Miguel Angel Palma
